Webinar: The Planning-Blueprint Phase

Industry Expert Tom Chmielewski to discuss best practices for software companies during their product planning phase.

Montreal, Quebec – March 22, 2007FeaturePlan, requirements management software for Product Management, and co-sponsor of the community blog The Product Management View, today announced the next in a series of ongoing Webinars entitled “The Planning-Blueprint Phase” on March 28, 2007. Guest speaker Tom Chmielewski, Vice President of Product Management at ChoicePoint Corporation, will discuss best practices for software companies during their product planning and how it benefits their bottom line.

In this Webinar, Chmielewski looks at the product planning phase of software development and focuses on the benefits of a carefully-crated blueprint in the earliest stages. He notes that “you can't (or very well shouldn't) construct a building without detailed blueprints and expect the excavators, foundation workers, plumbers, electricians, etc. to know what is required of them. Everyone should know what the building will look like before it is started. Yet when it comes to building software, much of the time the planning is late. Many times, I have heard and seen sales teams being unable to develop their plans because they don't know what the product will look like or what it will do, and marketing teams unable to develop their literature and brochures because they don't know what the product will be like. Yet these projects still get a go-ahead and end up running into problems that were entirely avoidable.”

In this Webinar, attendees will learn the importance of whole product planning, which will ensure product success in the market. More details on the content of the presentation can be found at http://grandview.rymatech.com/2007/104-the-planning-blueprint-phase.

“Tom reveals one of the biggest problems in software product planning and offers up a common sense solution that ought to be an industry standard,” says Russell Foy, VP Marketing and Sales of FeaturePlan, co-sponsor of The Product Management View.

Thomas Chmielewski is Vice President of Product Management at ChoicePoint Corporation. Tom's organization is responsible for defining and delivering products for banking, finance and mortgage customers based on market research and customer discovery.
